Welcome! We hope you will join our great organization and visit the libraries!
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and improving library services in Western Nevada County, California.
Our vision is to support our public library system as a cultural, educational, and recreational asset. We raise funds by collecting and reselling previously owned books and other media. We also seek out gifts of materials, services, and monetary donations (all tax deductible). |
The money raised is donated to the Nevada County Community Library system for books, media and other materials as well as programming and equipment. Annually, the Friends sponsor the Children's Summer Reading Program. We present author discussions and other programs. Annually the Friends support Nevada County Reads and the Halloween Book Give Away in Grass Valley.
The Friends currently manage and fund the operating costs of the Doris Foley Library for Historical Research in Nevada City. Friends' volunteers also provide staffing so the library can be open four days a week.
